DESCRIPTION:

Summary:

Coordinate, supervise and support custodial operations in the district. Support the Director of Operations and the Operations Manager in product selection and evaluation, equipment procurement and new employee training. All functions are performed to ensure safe, clean and healthy facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze custodial work assignments related to required materials, manpower, equipment, tools, and cleaning methods and procedures. Prepare estimates and recommendations for future needs and realignment of existing resources.

Coordinates staffing of all 2nd shift custodial operations at assigned buildings to ensure all vacancies are staffed appropriately and to ensure continued operations.

Send out the daily custodial overtime coverage and floater list

Update and maintain custodial maps for each building.

Provide input for department budget: Maintain equipment and cleaning chemical list and formulates estimates of budget requirements for custodial equipment replacement or modifications to current budget for custodial operations.

Provide insight and recommendations regarding Operation's custodial procedures manual.

Plans, performs, and documents training of custodial personnel including an induction program for new employees and continuous training of custodial personnel on new techniques, methods and tools.

Performs evaluation of employee performance including investigations related to employee conduct and inspection of work. Recommend and administer discipline and corrective action when needed.

Coordinates moving of district equipment and supplies to accommodate custodial operations impacted by major capital projects and relocation of staff.

Performs special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager & Director of Operations.

Perform on-call duties on assigned weekends for emergency response. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises 2nd shift custodians

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each principal duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Requires 3 to 5 years' experience in custodial operations.

Requires 1 to 2 years' supervisory experience with an emphasis on facility maintenance. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Must be knowledgeable of safety regulations and proper methods for handling and using cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Must know a wide range of custodial techniques and be able to determine proper cleaning procedures for flooring, equipment, fixtures, and building components.

Ability to work as a team member.

Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.

Must be cooperative and able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Ability to give and follow written and verbal directions.

Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

Ability to read, write and do simple computations.

Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks.

Able to communicate effectively.

Ability to motivate and train custodial personnel.
