General Description

The Math Resource Center Aide will assist with the daily operations of the Math Resource Center and provide support services to students and faculty.

Reports To

Supervisor, Math Resource Center

What position(s) reports to this position?

None

Minimum Education/Experience

Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.

OR

Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study Award.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

This position requires the person to frequently move about the lab to perform the functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office/lab equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with lab equipment or assist students.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:

This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS

This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office or lab setting.

Work Hours

Work schedule will range from 20 - 25 hours per week and may include evenings and Saturdays depending on Math Resource Center operational requirements. Schedules are set each semester and will respect the student's class schedule.

Greet and assist students and faculty.

Assist students with check-in procedures.

Answer incoming phone calls and provide information as needed.

Check out materials such as textbooks, solution manuals, and calculators for student use in the Math Resource Center.

Check out calculator caddies and other materials to faculty.

Light clerical duties.

Cleaning and dusting of computers and monitors.

Ensure printers are properly maintained with paper.

Other duties as assigned.
