Job Description:
SUMMARY
Supports the College-Wide Director,Veterans and Military Connected Services and the Veteran Center ProgramManagers with grant initiatives. Provides academic support toveteran and military connected students utilizing assessment, tutoring and instruction.Works directly with students assisting in one-on-one, small group, andclassroom settings. Supports the Program's objectives and initiatives asdirected.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Facilitates one-on-one, small group or classroom tutoring sessions.
Administers, scores, assesses, and evaluates educational and career assessments to identify participants' strengths and weaknesses in subjects.
Diagnoses student tutorial needs
Assess content of the College's high-risk courses and develop and teach content-based curriculum to drive student success.
Develops and presents supplemental curricula, materials, and instruction for non-credit skills courses.
Instructs and monitors participants use of math computer programs and graphing 34 Cuyahoga Community College Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Services calculator.
Assists in the development of educational action plans.
Conducts educational workshops on major subject study-skills.
Assists in tracking and maintaining a computerized records database of individual student progress, including academic achievement, enrollment retention, graduation, and transfer.
Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Bachelor's Degree in Math, English, Science, or related field
Significant related experience may substitute for education.
Minimum of two years of academic experience working directly with academically under-prepared students
Experience working with veterans or military connected community.
Demonstrated previous success in motivating and encouraging students.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Experience in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the students and the community.
Ability to travel between College campuses to perform duties.
Ability to determine the needs of students and identify solutions.
Ability to be creative and exercise initiative.
Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively.
Possess working knowledge of fundamental tutoring/instructing concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus.

Demonstrated experience in implementing supplemental instruction, curriculum development and program evaluation.
Possess intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
Demonstrated knowledge of utilizing math computer programs and graphing calculators.
Ability to organize work and set priorities within a general structure.
Possess strong organizational and time-management skills.

The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
Target Starting Salary Range: $44,000 to$48,000The final offer for the successfulcandidate is targeted to fall within this range, but will be based upon anassessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate'squalifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
