POSITION SUMMARY

Seeking dedicated and qualified Adjunct Instructors to join our team at the College of Innovative Professional and Graduate Studies. As an Adjunct Instructor, you can teach online and hybrid undergraduate and graduate courses. We seek individuals with expertise in History.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality online/hybrid instruction using synchronous or asynchronous methods.

• Utilize best practices in teaching for online accelerated adult programs.

• Employ effective teaching strategies that accommodate diverse student abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural backgrounds.

• Perform additional duties related to assigned courses as required.

Mentorship and Support:

o Serve as a mentor and resource for student teachers, offering guidance on lesson planning, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.

o Assist student teachers in navigating challenges encountered during their teaching placements, offering support and solutions as needed.

o Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment where student teachers feel encouraged to reflect on their practice and continuously improve.

Collaboration and Coordination:

o Collaborate with university faculty, cooperating teachers, and school administrators to ensure alignment between coursework and practical teaching experiences.

o Coordinate logistics related to student teacher placements, including scheduling observations, arranging meetings, and facilitating communication between stakeholders.

o Participate in regular meetings and professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in teacher education and supervision.

Professional Development:

o Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance expertise in educational theory, instructional methods, and assessment practices.

o Stay informed about current trends and research in teacher education, incorporating relevant knowledge into supervision practices.

o Pursue opportunities for professional growth and networking within the field of education.

Administrative Duties:

o Maintain accurate records of student teacher observations, evaluations, and progress reports.

o Ensure compliance with licensure requirements and accreditation standards related to student teaching placements.

o Assist in the coordination of programmatic assessments and evaluations to monitor the effectiveness of the student teaching program.

Qualifications:

• For undergraduate courses, a Master's or Doctorate in the relevant discipline is required, along with practical work experience in the course topic.

• Experience in synchronous or asynchronous teaching is highly desirable.

• An Ed. D. or Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and everyday practical work experience are preferred for graduate courses. A Master's degree in the course discipline and substantive work experience in the associated career can be accepted.

• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching.

• Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred).

• Experience with a Learning Management System such as Canvas (preferred).

• Experience with effective methods for engaging students through online learning (preferred)

• Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.

• Multilingual skills highly preferred.

Compensation: Stipend based on the credit hours assigned and previous teaching experience.
