The Loss Mitigation Specialist is responsible for collecting past-due consumer, mortgage, and commercial loans.

This role helps customers find solutions and manage accounts that are in legal action or bankruptcy. The Specialist ensures that all accounts comply with Bank policies and state and federal regulations.

Compensation: $65,000+ depending on experience.

This position is located in-office at our Operations Center in West Allis, WI.

Responsibilities

Collect payments on past-due installment, credit, mortgage, and commercial loans.

Make outgoing calls to assist borrowers in bringing their accounts up to date.

Explain the available options for loss mitigation and repayment to customers.

Send the necessary notifications, including demand letters, right-to-cure notices, and alternatives to foreclosure.

Manage delinquent vehicle loans and coordinate vehicle repossessions when necessary.

Refer accounts for foreclosure or judgment to the legal department when appropriate.

Collaborate with the Loan Servicing teams to address and resolve any issues related to payment processing.

Make sure to comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Wisconsin Consumer Act, and all applicable regulations.

Prepare reports for investors and mortgage insurance companies.

Monitor and manage customer bankruptcy cases.

Utilize eOSCAR for handling disputes related to credit reporting.

Obtain and monitor insurance for bank-owned and other real estate owned (OREO) properties. Qualifications

Associate degree in business is preferred, or equivalent work experience is acceptable.

5+ years of banking or financial services collections experience.

Knowledge of state and federal debt collection laws as well as the Wisconsin Consumer Act.

Experience with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or investor-owned loans preferred.

Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently.

Strong focus on detail and confidentiality.

Experience in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
