This role involves functioning as an emergency response medical professional, providing immediate medical care to individuals experiencing emergencies such as accidents, violence, or sudden illnesses like cardiac arrests or strokes. You will deliver pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from the point of initial contact through to transfer of care to an accepting medical facility. Key Responsibilities
Represent the ambulance service at public events and provide ambulance stand-by services as needed.
Document comprehensive assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
Provide care for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises, delivering appropriate medical, traumatic, and therapeutic services.
Serve as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
Utilize equipment like bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms for advanced life support applications.
Assess injury or illness severity to prioritize and implement necessary medical procedures for stabilization and patient transport.
Respond to dispatcher instructions and operate emergency vehicles safely to assigned locations.
Administer medications through injections, intravenous procedures, or oral routes as directed by a physician.
Communicate effectively with medical personnel at treatment facilities to obtain instructions for ongoing care.
Ensure cleanliness and decontamination of the ambulance after transporting patients with infectious diseases, and report cases as required. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Able to assess the needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families effectively.
Capable of documenting and communicating critical information using computer and/or paper tools.
Demonstrates competencies for all age groups, including neonates, infants, toddlers, school-aged children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Knowledgeable in infection control procedures and safety measures.
Ability to apply advanced knowledge and training to develop and execute care plans, intervening swiftly in life-saving situations.
Current certifications in ACLS, PALS, Basic Life Support, EMSVO, PA EMT-P Paramedic, and a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in advanced life support services.
At least 1 year of pre-hospital paramedic experience.
Current certification as NREMT-Paramedic or Pre-Hospital RN. Physical Demands
Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push/pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs over short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and overhead reaching required.
