Summary

As an emergency response medical professional, you will provide immediate medical care to victims of accidents and sudden illnesses. You will deliver pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support from the moment of contact until patient care is transferred to the accepting medical facility.

Job Duties

Represent the ambulance service at public service functions, expositions, and other events, providing ambulance stand-by services as needed.

Document assessments and treatments using patient care charting software accurately.

Provide care for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises through medical and therapeutic services.

Collaborate as a member of a two-person ambulance crew in responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.

Operate emergency medical equipment including resuscitators and defibrillators for advanced life support.

Assess injury or illness severity to prioritize medical procedures such as stabilization and transport.

Respond to dispatch instructions and operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.

Administer medications under physician direction via injections or intravenous methods as required.

Communicate effectively with medical personnel at treatment facilities regarding patient care instructions.

Maintain sanitation standards by cleaning and decontaminating the ambulance after transporting or treating patients.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Ability to assess needs of acutely and chronically ill patients and their families.

Proficiency in documenting and communicating essential information using various documentation tools.

Demonstrated age-specific competencies across a full patient spectrum including neonates to geriatric patients.

Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.

Capability to apply advanced knowledge and training in emergency response and life-saving procedures.

ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification in Pennsylvania required upon hire.

PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification in Pennsylvania required upon hire.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification in Pennsylvania required upon hire.

EMSVO Certification in Pennsylvania required upon hire.

PA EMT-P Paramedic certification in Pennsylvania required upon hire or NREMT-Paramedic certification required upon hire.

Valid PA Driver's License required upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's Degree.

Two years of experience in advanced life support services.

One year of pre-hospital paramedic experience.

NREMT-Paramedic or Pre-Hospital RN certification in Pennsylvania required upon hire.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push/pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead are required.
