Position Description
DEFINITION:
The Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor is responsible for the planning, developing, and the teaching of classroom and hands on field training for the Aviation Maintenance Technician program.
***This is a Time Limited, Temporary Part Time Grant Funded Position. Position ends December 2026 with potential to be extended***
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision and/or technical direction from the Full-Time Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor-NHC Endowment Grant.
Receives general supervision from the Director of Workforce Readiness.
Exercises no supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENT:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students
Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities
Utilize online Learning Management software, such as Canvas
Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons
Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores
Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to: class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters
Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines
Ensures safe practices are followed in the classroom and during lab activities
Ensures equipment and supplies are inventoried, stored, and ordered as needed Other Important Functions:
Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed
Assist in the recruitment of students from the community and area high schools
Oversee and participate in the field studies and assignment; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Relevant computer programs and systems
Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures
Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment
14 CFR Part 147 as it relates to required practical projects of an FAA approved AMTS.
The field of aircraft technology, maintenance, and operations. Ability To:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training:
High school diploma or Equivalent
FAA mechanic certification with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings
Experience in aviation maintenance field or equivalent in commercial, mission or military environment. Minimum Experience:
Have at least 3 years' experience as an Aviation Maintenance Technician Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
College degree (4 year)
5 years aviation maintenance experience Supplemental Information
Special Instructions to Applicants:
Part-time position: Up to 25 hours per week.
Work Schedule: Daytime and/or evening hours with flexibility required.
Work Location: North Campus.
