PROFILING MACHINE OPERATOR

Adairsville, GA

DIRECT HIRE POSITION

Pay: $22/hourly

The Profiling Machine operator will be responsible for profiling (cutting and shaping) steel beams according to precise specifications, then welding them on an automated production line- ensuring quality, dimensional accuracy, and safe operation throughout the entire process.

* Note: This position requires periodic travel to Europe (approximately 6 weeks on and off until the beginning of the new year) for training.

Responsibilities

1. Production Operations

Operate the roll forming and welding lines (robotic and automated systems).

Perform profiling, cutting, and shaping of steel beams per production drawings and ERP orders.

Conduct welding operations using robotic systems; adjust welding parameters with supervisor approval.

Manage coil changes (approximately one per hour).

Perform production changes (profiles, coils, lengths, brackets, etc.) following defined procedures.

Conduct minor mechanical adjustments and Level 1 maintenance on robots and welding equipment.

Maintain cleanliness and order of the work area in compliance with 5S standards.

2. Quality Control

Perform hourly quality inspections:

Measure beam length, profile height, torsion, and hook alignment (X value).

Inspect welds visually (6 welds + intermediate points) and check the “a” weld size value.

Verify hook types and positioning.

Follow EN 1090 Execution Class C standards for weld quality.

Record results in the quality control software.

Quarantine non-conforming products and notify supervisor immediately to determine corrective actions.

Conduct automatic and manual weld control checks using cameras and measuring stations.

3. Equipment & Tools

Production: Roll forming line, robotic welding line, nibbler, flying shears, automatic control systems.

Quality: Measuring bench, slide gauge, automatic weld control camera, hook control camera.

Maintenance Tools: Wrenches, pliers, welding torch parts, spare contact tips, gas nozzles, etc.

PPE: Safety shoes, gloves, earplugs, cap, safety glasses, and welding helmet.

IT Tools: ERP system and production software (for orders, quality, and performance tracking).

4. Documentation & Software

Access all quality documents, production procedures, and safety instructions on the SharePoint server.

Retrieve production orders from ERP.

Record all quality checks and production data in the designated software.

Participate in 5S audits as scheduled.

5. Safety & Environment

Comply with all safety procedures related to arc welding and load handling.

Ensure minimal waste by sorting defective and compliant profiles properly.

Support environmental and recycling initiatives in production.

6. Collaboration & Communication

Communicate regularly with the supervisor regarding quality issues, mechanical problems, and maintenance needs.

Inform the painter of the color and type of beams to be processed next.

Assist maintenance teams with basic repairs and diagnostics.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience with automated or robotic welding systems.

Understanding of profiling, forming, and welding processes.

Ability to read and interpret profile maps/drawings.

Basic mechanical and IT skills (ERP usage, data entry).

Valid Welding Permit (for small repairs).

Knowledge of TCP torch control and robot positioning adjustments (under supervision).
