Job Purpose

The System Administrator II is responsible for the effective management and support of an organizations IT infrastructure within the Data Center space. This role is more project-focused and involves supporting and mentoring entry-level administrators while also collaborating with senior team members. The System Administrator II independently manages critical system configurations, troubleshoots complex issues, and drives system performance optimization.

Essential Duties

Install, configure, and maintain advanced server environments, including virtualized and cloud-based systems.

Install, configure, and maintain advanced software, applications, and services across multiple platforms and environments.

Monitor IT systems and infrastructure continuously to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability.

Identify and address system bottlenecks or performance issues (e.g., server load, network congestion, storage limitations) through proactive analysis and remediation.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, including operating system failures, network outages, hardware malfunctions, and service interruptions.

Provide advanced technical support and guidance to resolve escalated incidents, collaborating with senior system administrators when necessary.

Support the implementation and enforcement of security policies and best practices across the IT environment, including access control, authentication, and data encryption.

Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly inspections of UPS, generator, air conditioning, and environmental systems based upon vendor requirements.

Installation and maintenance of Power Distribution Units (PDUs), IT security appliances, and camera compliance systems.

Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues, including replacing or upgrading components to maintain system integrity.

Document system administration processes, troubleshooting steps, and project learnings to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Demonstrated experience in utilizing advanced system monitoring tools and methodologies to proactively identify, analyze, and resolve complex performance bottlenecks across diverse IT environments.

In-depth knowledge of enterprise storage solutions, including SAN and NAS configuration, allocation, and ongoing management, with a focus on optimizing utilization, performance, and reliability.

Comprehensive understanding of system security frameworks and best practices, including policy development, vulnerability assessment, and proactive remediation to safeguard systems and data.

Advanced proficiency in disaster recovery planning, including design, implementation, and regular testing of robust recovery plans and comprehensive backup & restore operations.

Proven ability to develop, update, and maintain detailed system documentation, including technical configurations, SOPs, architectural diagrams, and knowledge base articles.

Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical capabilities, with a track record of addressing critical issues in high-pressure, multifaceted IT environments.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize demands, and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.

Advanced written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and clear documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative, working autonomously on complex projects and contributing as a collaborative team member.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

3+ years of professional experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022

VMware vSphere (WSXi & vCenter Server)

Active, Azure, Entra ID

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Industry standard certifications such as VCP, AZ-800, AZ-801.

Physical Requirements

Regular standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands and fingers for computer, telephone, and office equipment.

Occasional reaching, stooping, or kneeling.

Climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds; may involve raised floor environments and pallet jacks.

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Salary And Benefits

$89,313.08 - $101,816.91 per year
