About the Role

Reporting to the Program Manager of Health, Safety, and Wellness, the Safety Specialist plays a key role in promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy work environment across all eHealth-supported facilities in Saskatchewan. This position is responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, procedures, policies, and training initiatives, while ensuring adherence to provincial legislation, Workers’ Compensation Board requirements, and other regulatory standards. The Safety Specialist also conducts workplace incident investigations, analyzes safety data to identify trends, and collaborates with organizational leaders to ensure timely and effective completion of corrective actions.

What You’ll Do

As a Safety Specialist, you will:

• Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures tailored to our IT and healthcare environments.

• Provide training and education to employees on safe practices, emergency procedures, and equipment handling.

• Investigate incidents and accidents, analyze data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.

• Ensure regulatory compliance with provincial and federal safety standards, including the Saskatchewan Employment Act and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.

• Maintain detailed safety records of inspections, incidents, and training sessions.

• Collaborate with departments and committees (including Occupational Health Committees) to address safety concerns and implement improvements.

• Manage Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims, including reviewing medical documentation and supporting appeals when necessary.

• Identify risks and opportunities to enhance health and safety measures, proactively preventing workplace hazards and injuries.

• Support the planning and delivery of health, safety, and wellness programs across multiple sites in Saskatchewan.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. You’ll bring:

• A Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

• 2–3 years of progressive experience implementing and administering health and safety initiatives.

• Proven ability to develop and implement occupational health and safety programs.

• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems, CSA Standards, and provincial legislation.

• Willingness and ability to travel across Saskatchewan as needed.

• Strong communication skills to effectively relay program elements to stakeholders and leadership.

• A talent for building relationships with staff, management, and external partners such as SASWH, WCB, and SHA facilities.
