American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Observation Unit position requiring an OH or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.
Job Details
• Work in a hospital-based Observation Unit serving Med/Surg, Tele, and Oncology patients,
• Patient population includes cases such as dehydration, chemotherapy/radiation symptom management, acute kidney injury, palliative care, and post-procedure overnight stays,
• Care is provided to stable patients with anticipated short stays, typically less than two midnights,
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 with support from RNs, PCAs, and UCAs,
• Shifts are 3x12 hours, with both day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) options,
• Floating may be required to the ED to assist with Med/Surg tele patients awaiting transfer, with orientation provided,
Job Requirements
• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration,
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program,
• Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele experience,
• Current BCLS certification required,
• ACLS and OCN certifications preferred,
• Must be skilled in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV starts, and PICC line management,
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, supervisor, or charge RN,
• Candidates must not be current employees at Ohio State University hospital locations,
• Eligible former employees must have a break in service of at least 6 months,

• Provide care for stable observation patients, focusing on efficient discharge or care transition within two midnights,
• Team includes APPs, supervising MDs, and support staff,
• First time travelers are accepted,
• Scrubs are not provided; required colors are navy blue and white,
• Fingerprinting for Ohio is mandatory and must be completed promptly after contract signing,
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers,
• All requested time off must be included prior to contract,
