The Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) function is at the heart of aligning demand and supply, driving efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making. Based at our Costa Rica site, this leadership position will manage a small team and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver accurate forecasts, optimize inventory, and ensure seamless production planning.

Role Purpose
Lead the end-to-end Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for the Costa Rica manufacturing site, ensuring strategic alignment between demand, production capacity, inventory targets, and financial goals. Build and develop a high-performing planning team, drive continuous improvement, and deliver best-in-class forecast accuracy, customer service levels, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Design, lead, and execute the monthly S&OP/IBP cycle, achieving consensus across Sales, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and Logistics.
Facilitate executive S&OP and pre-S&OP meetings, driving data-driven decisions and resolving trade-offs.
Coach, mentor, and develop the planning team (Demand Planners, Supply Planners, Master Data Analysts), defining individual objectives, development plans, and succession planning.
Ensure best-in-class demand planning through statistical forecasting, commercial input validation, and continuous improvement of forecast accuracy metrics (Bias, MAPE, WAPE).
Own and improve key performance indicators: Forecast Accuracy, OTIF/OTD, Inventory Turns, SLA, Excess & Obsolete inventory, and working capital.
Proactively identify supply chain risks and opportunities (demand volatility, capacity constraints, material shortages) and lead mitigation/action plans.
Drive digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives in planning processes (advanced planning systems, Demand Sensing, scenario planning, etc.).
Partner closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance to optimize material availability, resource utilization, and total cost.
Prepare and deliver monthly/quarterly executive performance reviews and recommendations to local and regional leadership.
Champion a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and operational excellence across the site.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA is a strong plus.
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, or S&OP/IBP within manufacturing environments.
At least 2-3 years in a people leadership role managing planning teams.
Proven track record in implementing or maturing S&OP processes.
Technical Skills
Advanced user of planning tools and ERP systems (SAP, APO, – highly desirable).
Expert-level Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query) and experience with BI tools (Power BI, Qlik).
Strong command of statistical forecasting models, demand sensing techniques, and inventory optimization parameters.
Solid knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints (TOC), and continuous improvement methodologies.
