Salary:
At Cognixion, were building the future of human computer interaction as a regulated medical device called the Cognixion ONE. This integrated wearable system reads and processes biometric data to enable novel control of augmented reality applications using a combination of brain, eye and body movements.
Cognixions mission is to realize the concept of assisted reality by innovating and deploying technologies to those most in need.
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Staff Neuroscientist is responsible for
hands on development and validation of product focused algorithms for Cognixions industry leading AR-BCI platform. This position will play a key role in translating internal and external neuroscience research into functional, product ready algorithms suitable for medical device validation and deployment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in the lab, conducting biosensing experiments, writing algorithms, strategizing, and planning research and development activities and communicating research both internally and to the wider world.
Scope of Responsibilities
Keep abreast of the latest developments in neural sensing, biosignals, and clinical applications
Work closely with research and product development to identify
compelling algorithmic candidates, prototype, validate and translate into production code.
Work with clinical customers to refine diagnostic and therapeutic concepts into testable prototypes and pre-clinical embodiments.
Provide detailed feedback to the software and hardware teams on product requirements related to neuroscience and clinical application needs.
Skills & Experience
PhD or equivalent experience in BioEngineering, Systems Engineering, Machine Learning, Algorithms or other relevant technical discipline
3-5 years of industrial research experience ideally in neurotech
At least one shipped product, ideally in medtech.
Publication and/or patent record demonstrating
a high level of impactful innovation.
Direct experience in technology transfer from early stage, speculative research into product development and commercialization.
Direct experience with BioSignals including EEG, EMG, EOG and other non-invasive sensing means.
Comfortable with algorithm development.
Expert at deploying experimentation as a method of knowledge discovery, including with human subjects and in an industrial research setting.
Important Details
Frequent travel to Toronto, Ontario or Santa Barbara
may be required.
Remote applicants MUST be eligible to work in Canada and USA for several weeks at a time.
