Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience performing venipuncture in a hospital, outpatient, or laboratory setting. Current CPR/BLS certification. Knowledge of safety protocols, specimen handling, infection control, and HIPAA standards.
Preferred: Additional healthcare credentialing (e.g., RN, LPN, CMA, RMA, CCMA, or similar). Previous experience supporting laboratory operations in a healthcare, educational, or public health setting. Certified Bloodborne Pathogen Instructor (preferred but not required). Associate degree or higher in a related healthcare field.

Purpose and Scope:
The Temporary Phlebotomist performs skilled venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to support clinical and laboratory operations at the SENMC Health Clinic. This position is responsible for collecting, labeling, and processing blood and other specimens while ensuring accurate documentation, patient comfort, safety, and compliance with established protocols. The role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and excellent communication skills. This temporary assignment may support instructional laboratory needs, community health events, or short-term staffing needs. Evening or weekend hours may be required depending on demand. This position reports directly to the Health Clinic Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Accurately label, document, and process specimens for transport according to established procedures.
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the specimen collection process.
Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas and equipment.
Follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA standards, including sharps handling.
Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and clinical partners to ensure service quality.
Assist with specimen tracking, supply management, and laboratory organization.
Support special projects such as community screening events, simulation activities, or instructional lab set-up as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support clinical or institutional operations.
