Our Whiteshell location is seeking a Millwright Apprentice to complete training and provide assistance with mechanical maintenance, with an emphasis on the fabrication, installation, maintenance, repair, and revision of mechanical equipment, structures, and items.

What will you be doing!

Carrying out common methods of rigging, handling, and transporting heavy machines, including equipment, cable, and rope splicing.

Completing task assignments, including work planning.

Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, within quality assurance and regulatory requirements.

Interacting and working with zone supervisors, fellow employees and customers.

Maintaining good housekeeping and a safe and hazard free work place.

Providing excellent customer service and assistance. Interpreting customer requirements and producing products to customer specifications.

Reading and interpreting work-related instructions and materials, using clear verbal and written instructions, and using accepted terminology.

Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience would be considered an asset.

The successful applicant will be enrolled in a formal Apprenticeship Program with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and is expected to attend school as required.

Experience

Previous knowledge/experience of rigging, splicing, machining, overhaul and maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read blueprints and rough sketches.

Experience measuring and estimating quantity, quality and size of required materials.

Demonstrated ability to schedule one's own work, make job-related decisions and work with minimal supervision.

Possession of preventative and predictive maintenance skills.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day, starting at 6 am.
