Description
As a Soft Goods Technician at Impulse, you will be responsible for soft goods and multi-layer insulation (MLI) builds for spacecraft.
Responsibilities
Hand cutting and forming soft goods materials such as films and fabrics
Sort, stack, tape, and assemble multi-layer insulation products
Apply functional modifications such as conductive grounding pads & mounts, grommets, vent paths, filters, straps, and re-closable fasteners
Utilize tools such as hand punches, cutting blades, scissors, hammers, rivet squeezers, and heat sealers
Operate equipment such as sewing machines and drill presses
Operate cutting machines for sheet materials
Interface with engineering to identify work instructions and recommend engineering improvements
Review work instructions and specifications, and complete work buyoffs electronically as the work is being performed
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
1+ year of hands-on hardware manufacturing experience in a production environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
4+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience with part fabrication utilizing MLI's and soft goods for launch vehicles, spacecraft and/or satellites
4+ years of demonstrated experience with drilling, reaming, countersinking tight-tolerance holes using electric or pneumatic tools
4+ years of demonstrated experience with composites fabrication, mechanical assembly, and/or adhesive bonding
Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints. Understands drawing symbols, flag notes, and section views
Experience with hardware integration such as avionics, propulsion systems, pneumatics, and final clean for oxygen service
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work in confined spaces, and in a standing position for long periods of time
Must be able to lift as much as 25 pounds

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
