Position: Agriculture Shop Foreman

Location: Hulsbosch Dairy Farm LLC – Greensburg, IN 47240

Department: Operations

Reports to: Operations Manager- Cropping Division

Position Summary

The Agriculture Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the farm’s agriculture shop, ensuring efficient workflow, quality output, and a safe working environment. The Foreman supervises shop personnel, coordinates work assignments, and ensures that all maintenance, repair, and preventative care for agricultural equipment and machinery is completed according to specifications and schedules. This role requires technical expertise, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety and high-quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and mentor shop personnel, including agricultural technicians, mechanics, and other staff

• Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure all team members understand their responsibilities

• Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations

• Resolve employee issues and conflicts in a timely and professional manner

• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

• Manage employee schedules, including shifts and time off

• Oversee daily shop operations to ensure smooth workflow and productivity

• Coordinate and prioritize work orders, projects, and maintenance tasks

• Ensure all work is completed according to quality standards, specifications, and deadlines

• Inspect completed work to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to specifications

• Manage and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and agricultural parts

• Schedule regular maintenance, including preventative maintenance for agricultural machinery

• Implement and enforce quality control procedures for equipment repairs and maintenance

• Conduct safety meetings and enforce safety regulations, including handling agricultural chemicals and materials

• Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot issues with agricultural equipment

• Communicate effectively with other departments regarding shop performance, project status, and equipment needs

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in agricultural mechanics or a related field preferred

• Proven experience supervising and managing personnel

• Strong technical knowledge of agricultural equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding/fabrication, and diagnostics

• Experience in preventative maintenance

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods

• Comfortable working around machinery, equipment, and tools

• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
