The Occupational Therapists is responsible for organizing, developing, and directing Occupational therapy services in accordance with the standards and practice of physical therapy, state and federal regulations, and Alomere Health's policies and procedures. The Occupational therapist will provide high quality care, excellent customer service, fiscal responsibility, and maintain regulatory compliance at all times.
Patient Population: Primarily Pediatric in outpatient setting; primarily adults in inpatient setting and potential for pediatric inpatients dependent on hospital admissions
Approximate Inpatient 20% Outpatient 80%
Position Objective
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for organizing, developing, and directing occupational therapy services in accordance with the standards and practices of occupational therapy, state and federal regulations, and Alomere Health's policies and procedures. The Occupational Therapist will provide high quality care, excellent customer service, fiscal responsibility, and maintain regulatory compliance at all times.
Essential Responsibilities
Coordinate care with other professionals as needed to maximize patient outcomes
Act as a resource to the area therapists regarding progression of facility provided protocols
Use of evidence based information and principles with application to therapy practice
Provide safe, reliable, and efficient performance for appropriate speech therapy procedures to evaluate and treat patients across the lifespan
Appropriate supervision and/or delegation of tasks in accordance with state laws and scope of practice
Adequate utilization of the electronic medical record including thorough research and retrieval of pertinent medical information
Complete accurate and timely therapy documentation and billing
Support pediatric patients with growth and development to optimize participation in leisure, school, and social activities
Conduct physical and cognitive assessments of clients
Assess home and work environments of clients and decide what adjustments are needed
Prepare clients for return to work
Develop client specific plans of care
Involve the patient and family (as appropriate) in discussion and development of the plan of care, expected outcomes, and creation of patient specific functional goals
Observe and practice universal precautions
Perform CPR
Required Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program
Current (or eligible for) NBCOT certification and Minnesota state licensure
CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
One year post-graduate experience
Electronic Medical Record experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Maintain knowledge of treatment practices in order to provide clients with the best treatment program available
Ability to provide emergency first aide
Adaptable to fluctuating patient/department needs in an ever-changing medical environment
Ability to recognize areas of need with willingness to assist team in completion of duties as needed
Ability to be assertive, delegate responsibility appropriately, and function as part of an interdisciplinary team
Ability to effectively attend to people, information, and tasks in a complex, stimulating environment throughout an entire workday
Skill to have an ongoing self-assessment and commitment to continued learning and professional growth with ability to accept constructive criticism
Strong knowledge of the role and scope of occupational therapy services
Ability to work in multiple settings and travel as needed to perform the job
Ability to work in an environment that requires significant physical activity and mobility throughout the workday in a way that does not compromise patient or therapist safety
Ability to gather and critically analyze data to support rationale for appropriate patient evaluation and intervention
Hold a strong team philosophy with coordination and continuity of care
