The Prince George's County Board of Elections is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a temporaryGeneral Clerk, grade G06 position, in the Election Operations Division.

About the Position The Board of Elections is currently accepting applications to fill a 1000 Hour temporary General Clerk I position, grade G6 in Election Operations, Record Maintenance, Absentee and Administration Divisions.

Incumbents in this position are considered an "Essential Employee," during an election cycle.

The election cycle begins three (3) months prior to an election and one (1) month following the election.

As an "Essential Employee," you will not be authorized to take a leave of absence, and you will be required to work specified weekends and holidays.

The incumbent in this position must be able to lift and carry supplies/equipment up to fifty (50) pounds and must have excellent computer, data entry and analytical skills.

About the Agency The mission of the Prince George's County Board of Elections is to promote voter education, administer an efficient voting process, maintain an accurate voter registration database, and ensure that elected officials are elected in accordance with Federal, State, and County election laws.

The Board of Elections is responsible for the supervision of elections, voter registration and record keeping, and the administration of election laws in Prince George's County, in accordance with The Election Law Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

The Board and the Election Administrator seek to provide voter registration to every County citizen who wants it.

Examples of Work * Processes, files and disseminates voter registration applications, absentee ballot applications and election records.

* Drafts routine letters, memoranda, and reports.

* Assists in preparation and distribution of Election Day materials for Election Judges.

* Greets visitors, answers inquiries, and screens customer complaints.

* Proofreads data entries.

* Compiles and maintains statistics from voter registration database.

* Advises citizens of various provisions of election law.

* Assists with ordering supplies, packing election supplies and ballots for the polling places.

* Schedules Election Judges for training and assist with processing judges' payroll.

* Trains Voter Registration Volunteers.

* Performs tasks and duties as assigned within responsibility level of this class of work.

Qualifications * High school diploma or G.E.D.

certificate; or any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience which provided the knowledges, skills and abilities required to adequately perform assigned tasks.

* Must be a registered voter in the State of Maryland.

* Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable.

* Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable.

* Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee.

Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies.

Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.

* Be willing to adhere to the nature of the service provided by this agency, all employees are considered essential during an election cycle.

The election cycle begins three months prior to an election and continues one month following the election or until the election is certified.

As an essential employee you WILL NOT be authorized to take leave during an election cycle.

Additionally, you will be required to work specified weekends and holidays.
