ICU RN Job Details
Location: Mayfield, KY 42066 (Western Kentucky healthcare jobs)
Facility: Modern, Joint Commission-accredited hospital
Unit: 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – adult and geriatric patients
Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract (potential to extend)
Start Date: November 30, 2025
Shifts: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week (36 hours), every other weekend required
Employment Type: Travel RN, W2
Electronic Health Record: Meditech Magic
Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,780 - $1,910
ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kentucky or compact state)
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/critical care nursing experience
Current certifications: ACLS, PALS, Handle with Care
Completion of AHA EKG/rhythm interpretation course
Ability to float to MedSurg and Behavioral Health units as needed
Strong clinical skills: critical thinking, teamwork, adaptability
High energy, professionalism, and willingness to learn
Dress code: solid color scrubs (no crocs, t-shirts with logos, or cartoon characters)
ICU RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric ICU patients
Manage a 2:1 patient ratio in a fast-paced critical care environment
Monitor and respond to acute and chronic conditions: respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, GI bleed, Afib RVR, CHF, chronic renal failure
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EHR
Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training
Float to MedSurg and Behavioral Health units as required
