Description
Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role will lead the application of automotive quality standards and tools, drive problem-solving activities, and support the launch and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Location: Mexico; Travel Requirement 75%+; Language skills: Spanish and English required, German preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Support APQP activities through all phases, ensuring robust quality planning and documentation.
Prepare, review, and submit PPAP and ISIR packages in line with customer and TS-16949 requirements.
Develop and maintain Control Plans, FMEAs, and process flow diagrams in coordination with cross-functional teams.
Monitor production processes using SPC, MSA, and capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
Lead 8D problem-solving for internal and customer issues, applying structured root cause analysis tools (e.g., Ishikawa diagrams, 5 Whys).
Implement and verify containment actions to protect customers from nonconforming product.
Drive fast response to quality concerns, ensuring effective short-term fixes and long-term corrective/preventive actions.
Conduct internal audits against ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
Support supplier quality activities, ensuring proper flow-down of customer-specific requirements (CSRs).
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with OEM expectations for traceability and documentation.
Use the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) to analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate effectively across teams.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in a quality engineering role within automotive or manufacturing industry.
Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, ISIR, TS-16949/IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience in 8D, Ishikawa, containment, and corrective actions.
Demonstrated ability to react quickly and effectively to customer or internal quality issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel for data analysis, PowerPoint for reporting, Word for documentation).
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience working with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers is preferred.
Spanish and English Language skills required, German preferred.
75%+ Travel needed.
