Hours Worked - 8am - 5pm; May work evenings & weekends

Within the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Office of Personnel, act for administrator by providing program direction & relieving superior of most difficult duties pertaining to the MetLife Supplemental Life Insurance Benefit Program (only available to OSHP employees):

Plan, develop & administer all program activities & initiatives of the MetLife Benefit program; Identify program needs & requirements;

Provide program direction & communicate information to staff & all stakeholders; Transmit decisions & directives on behalf of administrator;

Present MetLife offerings in new hire orientation & cadet classes, provide instructions on enrollment, & review insurance applications for eligibility, insurability, & information;

Submit written correspondence to MetLife Insurance related to policy inquiries, death of member &/or covered dependents;

Process death claims & payments; Complete all related routine forms & ensure completeness of beneficiary change documents; Process conversion notices for terminations & reductions;

Maintain billing, invoicing, payments & filing systems; Prepare reconciliation of monthly billing statements to include removing all retirees from billing; Verify retirees are placed on billing of retirement system, add new hires & verify amount of coverage;

Manage internal DPS MetLife Computer program & work with Information Technology staff on system issues, maintenance &/or upgrades; Maintain files for each MetLife covered employee.

Formulate & implement program policies & procedures for MetLife Benefit Program; Oversee statewide implementation of policies, procedures & directives; Provide technical advice & recommendations to administrators to aid in decision making &/or the implementation of new policies & procedures;

Oversee & coordinate Pre-Retirement & Financial Planning seminars for OSHP uniformed employees (i.e., 5, 10, 20-year seminars, 25-year individual retirement seminars);

Plan & coordinate pre-disciplinary hearings, last chance agreement meetings, &/or signings, & other disciplinary matters as needed; Enter, track &/or retrieve data regarding employee incidents;

Conduct CCH verifications for all contract employees;

Maintain education documentation as it relates to educational requirements for sworn officers; Follow up with employees currently in the promotion process;

Manage yearly Master Trooper process, survey & final designation; Enter award designations into ERIS;

Oversee the assignment of unit numbers to all employees upon hire (e.g., utilize CAD to verify availability of unit number; notify employee & supervisor of unit number assignment; update employee's record in ERIS);

Perform administrative duties related to cadet classes (e.g., enter &/or update employee information in ERIS to include EEO data; oversee transfer & allocation process for cadets; maintain historical Academy class rosters);

Track performance evaluation process for cadets (i.e., mid, 270 day & final probationary) & any probationary extensions;

Prepare, update &/or distribute important documents, reports &/or division organizational charts as needed;

Perform other related duties as assigned.

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in business administration, management or public administration.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 2, 63123.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
