Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Business Development Representative (BDR) to lead strategic growth initiatives across key industrial sectors. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing high-value opportunities in Bulk Material Handling, Power Generation & Data Centers, Industrial Automation, Utilities Transmission & Distribution, Industrial Material Handling, Oil & Gas, and Chemical Products Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong network, deep industry knowledge, and a proven track record of driving revenue through strategic partnerships, relationship building, client engagement and acquisition resulting in winning new work in the specified geographic areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Regional Market Development

• Drive business development efforts with an emphasis across the primary region (OH, IN, MI, PA, KY, WV) and secondary region (IL, TN, Western NY) as much as possible, and the tertiary region if the first two regions are unfamiliar territory to the candidate.

• Develop and execute regional go-to-market strategies tailored to each vertical:

§ Bulk Material Handling: Mining, aggregates, cement, grain, logistics terminals

§ Power Generation & Data Centers: Fossil, nuclear, solar, wind, biomass

§ Industrial Automation: Robotics, control systems (industrial plants, chemicals, petrochemicals and/ or refining), IIoT

§ Utilities T&D: Grid infrastructure, substations, smart grid

§ Industrial Material Handling: Manufacturing, warehousing, logistics

§ Oil & Gas: Upstream, midstream, downstream, CCUS

§ Chemical Products Manufacturing: battery, weapons, other

• Client Engagement & Relationship Building

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with regional stakeholders, including engineering firms, facility operators, EPCs, OEMs, and utilities.

• Use existing client relationships to accelerate market penetration and sales generation .

• Conduct in-person and virtual meetings, presentations, and site visits to understand client needs and propose tailored solutions.

• Represent the company at regional trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

• Sales Pipeline & Opportunity Management

• Generate and qualify leads through regional networking, referrals, and targeted outreach.

• Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing, with a focus on long-term strategic accounts.

• Collaborate with internal teams to develop proposals and solutions that meet regional market demands.

• Industry Intelligence & Competitive Analysis

• Research and monitor regional industry trends, regulatory developments, and infrastructure investments.

• Identify competitive advantages and market gaps to position offerings effectively.

• Collaboration & Reporting

• Align regional business development efforts with company-wide strategic goals.

• Develop and maintain a weekly activity report showing how BD activities the prior week align to established BD goals/targets

• Provide regular updates on pipeline status, forecasts, and regional initiatives.

• Contribute to annual planning and budgeting processes with a regional lens.

Basic Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.

• Fifteen (15) or more years' experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in one or more of the target sectors.

• Strong understanding of engineering services in support of industrial systems, power and utility projects, oil and gas developments, and automation applications.

• Proven ability to open doors and build relationships with C-suite and technical stakeholders/ decision makers.

• Demonstrate a proven track record of success in securing new business within targeted markets/lines of business that resulted in profitable work for the organization.

• Deep familiarity with the business landscape and industrial ecosystem in the specified regions.

• Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

• Ability to understand concepts of scope and commercial contract terms.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

• If degree is in a related field, MBA is preferred.

• Existing network in industrial sector, oil & gas, utilities, power, or automation sectors within the Midwest/Appalachian region.

• Experience with long sales cycles and procurement processes.

• Familiarity with CRM tools and sales analytics platforms.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and innovation.

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private) but also requires frequent travel to off-site work locations;

• Expected business travel >50%;

• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):
