Job Description
About Us
Cable Communications Inc. (CCI) is a family-owned business with over 27 years of experience providing structured cabling, security, and low-voltage solutions across Northeast and Central Ohio.
We’re expanding our Columbus operations and looking for an experienced Low Voltage Project Manager / Estimator to support both project delivery and the growing sales pipeline. Our focus is on professionalism, accountability, and performance — building long-term partnerships with contractors, integrators, and end users who share those same values.
Position Overview
As a Low Voltage Project Manager / Estimator, you’ll oversee projects from initial site walk to final closeout — managing installation teams, developing detailed estimates, and ensuring each project is delivered on time, on budget, and up to CCI standards.
You’ll also play a key role in the front-end quoting— helping the sales team build accurate quotes and BOMs for upcoming opportunities, reviewing drawings/specs, and preparing documentation to hand off to field crews once projects are awarded.
Because this position directly contributes to new project acquisition and successful execution, it includes a commission component based on awarded projects and overall profitability.
This is a hybrid role that blends technical estimating, operational management, and client coordination, ideal for someone who enjoys both planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site surveys and site walkthroughs to evaluate job scope and field conditions.
Prepare detailed estimates, proposals, and change orders for structured cabling, access control, and camera systems.
Support the sales team with takeoffs, material selections, and technical input during quoting.
Create and manage project schedules, budgets, and submittal packages.
Coordinate with vendors, distributors, and subcontractors to ensure timely procurement and delivery.
Prepare job packets, BOMs, and documentation for field crews prior to mobilization.
Communicate regularly with clients and internal teams regarding project status and expectations.
Oversee field progress, handle site issues, and ensure quality installation and documentation at closeout.
Maintain organized project records and ensure warranty items are tracked and resolved.
Ensure safety, code compliance, and adherence to CCI’s operational standards.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in low-voltage project management, estimating, or as a lead technician.
Strong understanding of structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A, fiber), CCTV, and access control systems.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and Division 27/28 specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Bluebeam, and project management software.
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for site visits.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $50,000 (commensurate with experience)
Commission: Project-based commissions on awarded work and/or profitability bonuses
Health, dental, and vision insurance
SIMPLE IRA with employer match
Paid time off and flexible scheduling
Mileage reimbursement for project-related travel
Clear path for advancement into senior or division management roles
