Trust Tax Accountant
The Trust Tax Accountant is an integral member of the Trust Tax Services team and assists the Wealth Advisors, Trust Administrators, and Service Specialists in Huntington's Private Bank segment. We are responsible for not only tax compliance associated with fiduciary and charitable trust accounts, but also in maintaining strict oversight and internal compliance associated with fund movement and account reconciliation. Beyond technical duties, the Trust Tax Services team assists a field of professionals in building trust and strengthening client relationships, advancing Huntington's core value of Service Heart.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports account reconciliation process and documentation/disclosure of account transactions
Communicates with our third-party tax preparers during tax deadline periods and assists with resolution of open items and issues
Prepares fund transfers and payment requests
Delivers technical guidance and conducts research on trust tax issues to support Private Bank colleagues
Assists with governmental inquiries and audits
Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
2+ years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Self-driven professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Proficient in Excel with ability to work efficiently on data analysis and reporting
Detail oriented
Strong verbal & written communications skills
Experience with fiduciary tax compliance, including Forms 1041/5227/990-PF is a plus
