The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically. With funds from the Ohio General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, the OAC provides financial assistance to artists and arts organizations.
Some evenings and/or weekends are required. The employee may travel overnight from time-to-time. The worker may be required to work longer than usual hours during peak operational periods.
As of the time of posting, this bargaining unit position starts at a base pay rate of $47,757 annualized ($22.96/hour) within pay range 28.

The OAC’s Fiscal and Investment Office teams form the core of the agency’s primary work as a grant maker. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of budgeting, bookkeeping, and accounting. They should be familiar with general office management, agency procedures, and state guidelines for financial and purchasing activities. Experience using State of Ohio financial and administrative systems such as OAKS and ARTIE (OAC grants management system), along with Microsoft Office and Excel, is important. Knowledge of government processes, workforce planning, and human resources practices is also helpful.
Candidates should have strong computer and clerical skills, including typing, word processing, and working with spreadsheets and databases. Attention to detail, accuracy with numbers, and clear written and verbal communication are essential. The position requires good problem-solving and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and comfort performing light physical tasks such as typing.
Main areas of work and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Fiscal Office
Processes payroll\: reviews timesheets, corrects errors, and enters new employee information.
Tracks hours, pay changes, and leave balances.
Prepares and records payments, deposits, and invoices.
Reconciles accounts payable and receivable.
Maintains accurate financial data in systems like OAKS and ARTIE.
Prepares forms and ensures correct fiscal coding.
Investment Office
Reviews and reconciles grant payable and revenue transactions.
Verifies investment-related entries and financial data.
Ensures accurate reporting and coding for state programs.
Customer Service
Communicates with grantees, vendors, and others about accounts or payments.
Answers questions, files documents, and handles correspondence.
Updates vendor and asset records.
ARTIE (specific to the Ohio Arts Council)
Verifies data for applicants and grantees.
Keeps financial and grantmaking information accurate and up to date.
Coordinates with other offices to ensure reliable reporting.

Major Worker Characteristics:
