About MORPC's Weatherization Program The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) provides energy efficiency services to income-eligible households through programs like HWAP and WarmChoice.
These services help reduce energy bills, improve home comfort and safety, and support environmental equity across Central Ohio.
Position Summary The Energy Auditor plays a vital role in assessing residential homes for energy efficiency improvements.
This position involves daily travel to client residences across Franklin County and occasional trips to home improvement retailers for supplies.
All driving is conducted in MORPC-provided vehicles.
Key Responsibilities * Conduct comprehensive energy audits of residential homes, including blower door testing, combustion safety testing, and insulation assessments.
* Identify and recommend weatherization measures such as air sealing, insulation, and HVAC upgrades.
* Educate residents on energy-saving practices and safety improvements.
* Document findings and prepare reports using MORPC's data systems.
* Coordinate with contractors, field technicians, and inspection staff to ensure timely and quality service delivery.
* Maintain inventory and procure supplies from local retailers as needed.
* Uphold safety protocols and ensure compliance with program standards.
Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications (e.g., BPI) preferred.
* Valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces, attics, and crawlspaces.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Willingness to complete training and certification programs provided by MORPC.
Work Environment This is a field-based role with daily driving to client homes.
Use of MORPC fleet vehicles is required for all work-related travel.
Hybrid administrative work may be required occasionally.
The Energy Auditor works closely with the Lead Field Technician, Inspection Coordinator, contractors, and Intake Specialists to ensure timely and quality service delivery.
