R&D Lab Technician

Actalent is seeking an R&D Lab Technician to join our team supporting a company in the paint/chemical manufacturing industry. This role involves preparing and testing various formulas and wet samples, applying them to lab metals, baking them, and evaluating their properties. You will perform standard testing procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. This is 6-month contract anticipated to lead to a long term opportunity. 1st shift 8-5pm Mon-Fri

Key Responsibilities

• Putting together formulas and processing them, preparing wet samples and applying them on lab metal and baking them out and testing those properties

• Testing includes viscosity, density, weight per gallon, viscosity, color development, adhesion testing, cure testing, solids, flexibility, and solvent resistance. Testing physical and wet properties of the paint

• Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements

• Perform standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality

• Follow daily work plan for Lab Work Request or project plan

• Accurately document work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic)

• Recognize roadblocks or anomalies; resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner

• Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labelled

• Correctly label and mail samples

• Maintain clean and organized work environment Performs equipment calibration and testing procedures as assigned

• Maintains appropriate levels of housekeeping and 5S organization in the lab

• Maintains and promotes a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in both the laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- AS or BS in Science

- Prior quality/wet lab experience preferred

- Can be non-degreed as long as candidates have one year of wet chemistry lab experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
