Position Summary:
Village of Promise (VoP) is seeking a Floater Teacher who will support various classrooms as needed, assisting with supervision, care, and classroom activities to ensure safety and a nurturing environment when staff are absent or during busy periods. Key responsibilities include providing flexible classroom coverage, aiding with care tasks like changing diapers and serving meals, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and communicating effectively with staff, children, and parents. Village of Promise is a family advancement center in Huntsville, AL and seeks to end generational poverty.
Essential Duties:
Establish and maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment for the scholars.
Fill in for absent teachers, assist with daily routines, implement lesson plans, and manage classroom activities across different age groups.
Provide constant supervision, ensure the safety and security of children, assist with mealtimes and snacks, and help with diaper changes or toileting.
Help keep the classroom and other areas clean, safe, and organized to support a healthy learning environment.
Develop positive relationships with children, families, and staff to facilitate smooth communication and information sharing between home and school.
Adapt to varying needs throughout the day, moving between classrooms, supporting different staff members, and responding to unexpected demands.
Follow all policies, guidelines, processes/procedures established in VoP Employee, Faculty and Parent Handbooks.
Perform daily cleaning tasks to maintain a standard of cleanliness in the classroom.
Assist lead teacher in all aspects of the classroom.
Eligibility/Qualifications:
Experience in classroom/daycare setting is desired
CDA or some college hours a plus
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Non-Profit experience a plus
Eligibility to pass a background check and drug test
Physically capable of lifting children up to 30 pounds and in physical condition to appropriately care for the students.
Eligible to work in the United States (E-Verify)

Hours are generally 7:30am-3:30pm (occasionally required to stay longer for staff or parent meetings)
