DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
NEPM is a multi-media organization producing and broadcasting radio, TV and digital content to western Massachusetts from our studios in Springfield. Our public radio services offer a mix of NPR news, classical and jazz.
JOB OVERVIEW
Students will work alongside NEPM's experienced news team, learn the basics and produce stories to air on the radio and appear on NEPM's website and social channels. This position does not have a remote option; it is based at NEPM's office in downtown Springfield.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports to News Department Executive Editor
Work independently and with other reporters to cover daily and enterprise stories in western Massachusetts.
Schedule and perform interviews in the studio, by telephone and in the field.
Report, voice and mix audio stories. Draft digital stories. Create social posts for their own or for other reporters' stories.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Interested in journalism and public affairs
Familiarity with news writing required
Familiarity with digital audio production preferred
Knowledge of Canva and Adobe Suite preferred
Ability to work under deadline
Access to a car and ability to drive is preferred but not required
Collaborative approach and nature
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work and presentation
Willingness to learn

JOB-STATUS
Paid Internship $17/hour (Part-time). 8 hours per week (all in one full day).
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Dates: January 26th to April 17th.
Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wifi.
Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.
