Position Summary:
The Network Engineer III will provide expert support for the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) network at the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS). This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing secure, standalone network infrastructure that supports essential building and safety systems. The engineer will ensure compliance with all VA security standards while implementing and managing multi-site network operations and architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and maintain LAN switching and wireless environments supporting secure access
Manage multi-server environments including DNS, WINS, IP schemas, and bonding
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, IP telephony, and security system issues
Maintain and document Telecommunication Room configurations concerning ICN
Support CCTV, AMAG, Pelco, and JCI Metasys systems across multiple VA locations
Respond to inquiries from staff, vendors, and service providers
Support enterprise routing, VRF, Metro-E LANs, and manage IP space for ICN devices
Attend project meetings, develop project plans, and coordinate ICN system installs
Migrate JCI systems to VA OIT and escort vendors during ICN-related projects
Provide monthly reporting, testing, and validation of ICN network performance
Minimum Qualifications:
Clearance: Must have or be able to obtain favorable Tier II clearance
Experience: 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and network configuration
Certifications:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Must be valid for a three-year certification cycle.
• Project Management Professional (PMP). No expiration.
• CompTIA Security+. Must be valid for a three-year certification cycle.
• CompTIA Network+CE. Must be valid for a three-year certification cycle.
• ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional. Must be valid for a three-year certification cycle
2+ years working with Pelco and AMAG systems
Technical Proficiency In:
Cisco VRF-lite, VLANs, Wireless Controllers (5500 series, 3000 series APs)
Cisco switches (6509, 6500, Catalyst 4000/3000)
Cisco ACS 802.1X, lifecycle asset management, network documentation
Strong verbal/written communication and analytical skills
