Tech News Editor

This position will operate on a remote, contractual basis. Candidates must reside in the U.S. or Canada, or in countries within a few hours of the EST time zone.

Valnet is looking for a passionate News Editor to lead daily news coverage across our tech portfolio. This role involves writing, assigning, and editing breaking news stories, managing a small team of news writers, and contributing to the ongoing editorial strategy.

Responsibilities:

Actively chase breaking news and trending stories within the consumer tech space.

Write and publish news articles regularly, maintaining speed, accuracy, and clarity.

Lead and manage a small team of news writers: assigning stories, providing editorial feedback, and ensuring quality and consistency.

Oversee the news content pipeline, coordinating deadlines and workflow to ensure timely publication.

Collaborate closely with editorial leadership to align coverage with sitewide goals.

Maintain high editorial standards, including SEO best practices and style guidelines.

Skills We're Looking For:

Proven track record of writing and editing fast-paced technology news.

Experience managing or leading editorial teams or contributors.

Strong news judgment and ability to identify and prioritize impactful stories.

Deep knowledge of consumer technology, especially mobile devices and software ecosystems.

Ability to work independently and reliably during U.S. Eastern Time hours.
