Must Haves:

High School Graduate or equivalent

1 year experience as a Driller's Helper or a Driller (Needs to be Geotechnical drilling – NOT oil)

Valid Driver's License.

Drilling experience - Rock Coring, Bed Rock, 100-200ft deep

Able to perform manual labor in inclement weather conditions.

Day to Day:

Have the capability to operate some drill rigs and be familiar with basic auguring and sampling procedures. This person is not permanently assigned to a particular drill rig and will often perform or work as a Driller's Helper when required.

When assigned to a drill rig and functioning as a Driller, he/she will oversee and assure that all drill equipment, support vehicles and drill rigs operated by his/her crew are maintained properly and operated safely by all members of the drill crew.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Perform daily maintenance checks on all equipment, support vehicles, machinery, tools and drill rigs assigned to him/her, and report and document all unsafe conditions, problems or repairs required to equipment to the Drill Shop Mechanic or Drilling Manager as soon as they are discovered.

Obtain a clear understanding of each work assignment or project from the Drilling Manager, Project Engineer, client or client's representative and make sure that the proper equipment is procured prior to carrying out such work assignments.

Make judgmental decisions as to the most effective and efficient method to perform work assignments related to subsurface exploratory sampling and drilling investigations.

Keep Drilling Manager posted and updated of work in progress while in town or out-of-town on a routine basis.

Fill out a shift report and accurately account for all time spent and materials used on each project. Have the client or client's representative sign each shift report and turn them in on a daily basis or upon returning from an out-of-town work assignment.

Direct all personnel working on or around a drilling operation to work in a safe manner as outlined by the Drilling Safety Guide Book established by the National Drilling Foundation.

Travel to project sites, work and stay out-of-town when required.

Notify the Drilling Manager of any emergency situations that arise in the field as soon as possible.

NOT TRAVELING MORE THAN 30% and NOT working in residential homes.
