Resident Advisor
Position Summary:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Resident Advisor is responsible for providing direct care and supervision to adolescent girls 12-17, and transitional age young adult girls 18-24 in a Qualified Residential Treatment Facility (QRTP). This role ensures the physical, emotional, and social safety of residents while supporting their treatment goals in a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities: Resident Care and Supervision:
Maintain a safe and structured environment by supervising residents during daily routines, activities, and free time.
Facilitate scheduled Group activities
Support the implementation of individualized treatment plans and behavioral interventions in collaboration with the clinical team.
Build positive, supportive relationships with residents while maintaining professional boundaries.
Behavioral Support and Intervention:
Utilize trauma-informed approaches to manage challenging behaviors.
De-escalate crises using approved intervention techniques and document incidents as required.
Monitor and document residents' progress, behaviors, and interactions.
Programming and Activities:
Facilitate recreational, educational, and therapeutic group activities that align with treatment goals.
Encourage residents to participate in life skills training, such as budgeting, cooking, and time management.
Transport residents to appointments, school, or community activities as needed, ensuring safety and compliance with policies.
Facility Maintenance and Safety:
Conduct room checks, maintain accurate shift logs, and report safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
Assist with cleaning and organizing communal spaces to uphold a clean and orderly environment.
Compliance and Documentation:
Accurately complete required documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and medication tracking, in compliance with facility policies and state regulations.
Adhere to all licensing, certification, and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission and OhioMHAS requirements.
Team Collaboration:
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions to enhance professional development.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and the interdisciplinary team regarding residents’ needs and progress.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
Experience working with adolescents, particularly in residential or behavioral health settings, is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and positive behavior support.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
Proficient in basic computer skills and documentation systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with residents for extended periods.
Capacity to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Certification in CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention (or willingness to obtain).

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Work Shifts:: Full-time at 40.0 per week, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Shifts available or Part-time Weekends (Sat. & Sun 12 hour shifts, 7AM-7:30PM, 7PM-7:30AM
