The Office of Administration and Planning (A&P) marketing and communications team supports eight main business units, including: Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety; Facilities Design and Construction, Facilities Information Technology; Facilities Operations and Development; Office of Technology and Digital Innovation; Planning, Architecture and Real Estate; Transportation and Traffic Management; and UniPrint. Under the direction of A&P’s Director of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Channel Production Specialist 2 develops and implements communications plans and strategies. Serves as liaison for A&P with university partners, as needed. Coordinates content production, planning and publishing across a variety of digital communication channels, including social media, websites, email and digital signage and mobile. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to shape and approve content for publication.
Assists with developing content for websites and posts using Drupal content management system. Works on maintaining websites across A&P, including routinely reviewing and updated text, images and videos to ensure all content is up-to-date. Responsible for posting news stories, creating or updating landing pages, and editing content. Reviews all A&P websites for compliance with digital accessibility standards, ensuring content adheres to standards and all staff are trained to create and publish accessible content. Works on storytelling by writing and posting content and assisting with internal and external newsletters. Writing background desired, including knowledge of AP style. Writes feature stories, press releases and news items as well as technical breakdowns or explanations for users of complex IT, facilities or other A&P functions.
May leverage expertise in digital storytelling, content creation, search engine optimization, and social media community management to deepen user interaction and engagement. Helps manage communications for Ohio State app and other OTDI services and technologies. Serves as primary backup for construction and traffic impact communications working alongside the associate director. Responsible for programming and maintaining digital display boards across A&P’s physical space using Xibo.
Serves as project manager for communications initiatives working directly with clients and interfacing with colleagues in A&P Marketing and Communications to meet deadlines and complete projects via a shared services model. Responsible for developing marketing and communications plans and managing client expectations and deadlines.
Serves as backup for e-mail marketing and social media, including laying out and sending branded emails in SalesForce Marketing Cloud, or other platforms, and maintaining email lists. Develops, plans and executes targeted marketing campaigns in direct marketing channels (email, print, SMS, etc.) in support of A&P’s goals and initiatives. Analyzes and reports on effectiveness of campaigns. Supports and helps implement social media strategy that furthers A&P and university awareness, drives traffic to A&P social media pages, and promotes engagement or other objectives. Serves as backup to social media lead, assisting with content and monitoring using Sprout. Monitors A&P’s social networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn for all A&P accounts, including police/public safety, facilities, OTDI, transportation, UniPrint and others, as needed. Works closely with brand, marketing technology and compliance partners to implement best practice strategies and university standards and policies as related to digital channels.

Education/Skills/Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-5 years of experience, or more, as a communications professional managing social media and email marketing campaigns. Strong attention to detail skills and ability to organize multiple tasks at a time. Demonstrated advanced professional written and oral communication skills. Strong editing and proofreading skills. Experience interpreting and using AP writing style. Knowledge of the creative design process and experience working with graphic designers, including producing print and web materials. Experience working in a fast-paced work environment.
Desired: Experience using the following tools or programs: Sprout, SalesForce Marketing Cloud, Drupal, Xibo. Experience working in a university communications environment; experience supporting public safety, facilities, transportation or other city services. Experience maintaining ADA compliant websites or digital communications.
Additional Information:
The target hiring range for this job profile is $ 58,700 - $77,200. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
