Position Summary
The Tooling Technician performs scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled minor repairs on all injection molding tools and associated components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform routine preventive maintenance on all injection molds which includes tear down, repair and rebuild
· Perform minor tool repairs as requested to help reduce unexpected mold downtime and scrap
· Must be able to obtain license to drive forklift
· Have the ability to trouble shoot and correct, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
· Have ability to learn and master new skills, i.e. polishing, hand tools, machine tools, welding which includes fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools
· Test completed tools, dies or jigs for proper operation
· Examine tools for defects
· Must have basic knowledge of computer and be able to enter PM and work order records into PLEX
· Must be willing to perform mold changes and act as their back-up when required
· Must verify schedule and select the proper mold, for PM with the correct inserts when applicable
· Must understand and follow standard work practices for performing mold PM and mold changes
· Clean up after all mold maintenance and return tools and equipment to its proper location and condition
· Communicates all mold related issues or damage to shift supervisor or engineering department
· Work with Quality / Processing Engineering on validation requirements
· Maintain a safe and clean work area; maintain 5S standards
· Must be able to work overtime and weekends on a short notice
· Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable; attendance is crucial
· Must be a team player
· Other duties as assigned
Decision Making Authority
· Authority to shut down machining equipment if there’s an unsafe condition that exists; must notify supervisor
· Authority to stop a PM or mold repair
Required Competencies, Skills and Experience
· High School Diploma or GED equivalent
· Basic math, reading, and computer skills
· 1-3 years associated experience in injection molding
· Good hand eye coordination, mechanically inclined
· Must be team player, capable of working well with others
· Must have own tools and tool box.

The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Ability to stand for long periods of time
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35lbs. and occasionally may maneuver up to 50lbs.
Specific visions abilities required by this job may include but not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment for a minimum of 8-12 hours per day
