Job Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the Wood Shop area of the manufacturing plant. The Team Lead will have advanced knowledge of woodworking machinery, tools, and production processes to provide clear direction to associates on assigned tasks and procedures. They will train associates as needed, address questions or concerns, and ensure work is completed to meet quality and safety standards. The Team Lead will collaborate with management to set production priorities, assign tasks, and monitor progress toward goals. They will also perform hands-on woodworking tasks when necessary and maintain effective communication with other departments using tools like Microsoft Outlook. The ability to operate a forklift for moving materials within the shop is required. This role works closely with the Plant Manager and may coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and other teams as needed. Additional duties may be assigned to support overall plant operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee manufacturing operations in an assigned area
Provide direction to associates on assigned tasks and procedures
Complete manufacturing tasks as needed
Collaborate with management on production priorities and goals
Assist with associate questions or concerns
Maintain a clean and organized workspace/shop
Minimum Education and Experience:
Experience: 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in machining, metalworking, or related fields is a plus
Other Skills and Abilities
Intermediate computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Office and Outlook
Knowledge of inventory management and order entry systems, such as SyteLine and Factory Track
Advanced knowledge of shop machinery and proper manufacturing techniques
Advanced knowledge of proper quality control procedures
Ability to operate a forklift
Mechanically inclined; ability to work with basic hand and power tools
Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16th of an inch
Ability to add and subtract fractions
Communicates well with others; asks for and offers help when needed
Detail oriented; meets quality standards and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
Organized; completes work in a timely manner; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
