Description:

Means Engineering is looking to hire a Tube Fabricator/Tube Bender to join our team. This position is responsible for completing complex tube bending and forming tasks with little to no assistance.

Essential Functions:

Complete tube preparation by cutting, facing, and bending tasks based on drawings and work instructions

Align, fit, and assemble tubing components in jigs and fixtures for subsequent welding

Set up and operate variety of manual and power machines to cut, form, swage, flare, and deburr tubing according to specifications

Attach fittings, such as nuts, sleeves, collars, and caps to tubing components using hand tools and machines

Complete rework or repair per instructions

Perform in process quality assurance activities and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards

Clean tubing and assemblies

Remove minor imperfections by use of mechanical or manual methods according to approved process instructions

Education, Experience, and Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential functions listed above.

High school diploma or equivalent

One or more years of similar experience in the metal working field. Experience as a tube fabricator certainly a plus; or combination of related experience and education

Must have strong English communication skills to understand verbal and written instructions, communicate with other employees both verbally and in writing, follow directions and tasks lists, and participate in departmental team meetings and required training classes

Able to read and understand drawings, work instructions and technical documents and specifications as necessary to perform the job functions

Math skills including geometry and some trigonometry

Inspection skills including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)

Ability to interpret, apply, and document QC standards as part of the operation

Knowledge of safety standards for equipment being run

Ability to produce parts within tight tolerances

Ability to measure, cut, or work on items with great accuracy

Experience with welding equipment including but not limited to: cold saw, pneumatic tools, portable band saw, grinders, polishing wheels, and standard inspection equipment

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position involve frequently remaining in a stationary position (sitting or standing) and frequently moving throughout work centers. This position occasionally crouches or kneels and climbs stairs or ladders to position self to clean and operate equipment. This position continuously lifts or carries 10lbs or less, frequently lifts or carries object weighing 11-25lbs, and occasionally lifts 26-50lbs with assistance. This position frequently reaches overhead to move or measure product and operate machines. This position requires the continuous use of hands/fingers and fine motor skills. This position continuously exchanges information with supervisors and coworkers regarding tasks and product. This position must be able to hear sounds coming from machines in order to monitor their correct operation. This position must be able to read drawings and work instructions and perceive fine detail.

Compensation Range:

Tube Fabricator/Tube Bender I: $21.35 - $26.60 per hour
