Job Title: Outpatient Orthopedic Profee Coder/Auditor

Addison Group is working with a healthcare organization that is bringing coding operations back in-house. This is a direct hire opportunity to join a growing team in a newly created role focused on coding quality and provider collaboration.
Job Description:
This role is responsible for professional coding and auditing within an orthopedic outpatient setting. The coder/auditor will work closely with providers and coders to ensure coding accuracy and compliance, primarily reviewing surgical procedures and E/M services.
Key Responsibilities:
Abstract codes and assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and modifiers for orthopedic outpatient encounters
Perform audits of coder work to ensure quality and adherence to standards
Conduct E/M leveling and surgical coding reviews
Collaborate directly with providers to discuss coding trends and resolve documentation issues
Address coding denials, claim edits, and submit appeals when necessary
Prepare coding reports and documentation as needed
Assist in educating physicians and coders on documentation and coding practices
Meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; completion of a formal coding program preferred
CPC certification required; COSC strongly preferred
3–5 years of professional coding experience, specifically in orthopedic surgery
Strong understanding of surgical coding and E/M guidelines
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and liaise with clinical staff
Additional Details:
Schedule: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hybrid: 1 day per week onsite (location: 28411 Northwestern Hwy, Ste 740, Southfield, MI 48034); frequency may vary slightly
Interview Process:
Virtual interview with hiring managers (camera on)
Final interview with Market Director and potentially with provider staff
Target Start Date: ASAP
