Joining Collibra’s Brand and Digital Marketing team
Collibra’s Senior Backend Web Developer will be a key member of our Digital Marketing team, responsible for building, maintaining, and securing the infrastructure that powers our global web presence. Reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing, you’ll work closely with a collaborative group of engineers, designers, marketers and content authors to deliver performant, scalable and integrated digital experiences. From managing CI/CD pipelines and troubleshooting mission-critical outages to developing robust PHP/Python scripts for custom APIs, you’ll ensure our websites and services remain fast, secure, and highly functional. This role is vital to support and enable our cross-functional teams, from Marketing and Customer Support to Finance and Engineering, to leverage web technology that drives lead generation, product access and customer success. As a back-end developer and system integrator, you’ll apply deep technical expertise to improve efficiency, enhance security and support the end-to-end delivery of web experiences that reflect Collibra’s leadership in the data and AI governance space.
This is a hybrid role based in our Prague office. Our hybrid model means you’ll work from the office at least two days each week. This setup helps us stay connected, work more closely together, and keep making progress as a team.
Senior Back-End Web Developer’s at Collibra are responsible for
Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services, system integrations and APIs that support Collibra’s global web properties
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including within Marketing, Engineering, Data Office and Customer Support to deliver secure, scalable and high-performing backend solutions
Managing and optimizing infrastructure tools and workflows across environments (local, staging, production) using CI/CD pipelines and Git best practices
Building, customizing and securing WordPress environments including custom post types, templates, plugins and PHP/JavaScript functions
Leading the development of our federated search integrations, gated content access systems, and user-specific personalization through scripting in Python and PHP
Proactively monitoring web server performance, troubleshooting outages, and implementing security patches across WPEngine, AWS and Cloudflare-hosted properties
Creating and maintaining documentation for all backend systems, integrations and automation scripts
Ensuring marketing systems like Salesforce, Marketo, and others integrated accurately and reliably via backend development and API logic
Supporting internal stakeholders by diagnosing access or technical issues and implementing sustainable backend solutions
Improving page speed, query performance, and backend code maintainability through structured refactoring and performance tuning
You have
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and equivalent work experience
5+ years of professional backend web development experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or agency settings
Expertise in PHP and Python with working knowledge of Node.js and JavaScript frameworks such as Vue
Knowledge working with Sanity or another modern headless CMS
Strong experience with WordPress, LAMP stack development, REST APIs, and relational databases (MySQL)
Strong proficiency with Wordpress architecture, templating, hooks, plugin development and REST API expertise
Proven ability developing with Salesforce SOQL preferred
Strong proficiency with source control systems such as Git and using GitHub actions
Familiarity with AWS services including CloudFront, CloudSearch, S3, and API Gateway
Strong proficiency with web server management (Apache/Nginx), Cloudflare and DevOps tools (cPanel, WHM, CRON, CLI)
Demonstrated ability to build secure, scalable and modular backend systems, with an emphasis on cross-functional integrations
Experience with Project Management tools such as JIRA, Asana
A portfolio of backend-focused code samples (GitHub or similar), with clearly documented contributions

Measures of success
Within your first month, you will have familiarized yourself with our development environments, completed onboarding to key systems and repos, and contributed to updates or fixes
Within your third month, you will have taken ownership of at least one major backend integration or system, improved documentation and contributed to cross-functional web projects
Within your sixth month, you will be the primary technical owner of all backend web systems and services, regularly contributing code, proposing architectural improvements and partnering with business stakeholders maintaining scalable digital solutions
