JOB DETAILS: The forklift mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on forklifts and other material handling equipment.
This role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently and safely.
Key Accountabilities: Conduct routine maintenance services such as oil changes, battery checks, tire inspections, and brake adjustments.
Replace worn or defective parts with new or reconditioned parts.
Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Communicate with customers or internal staff to explain equipment issues and repair needs.
Provide cost estimates for repairs and maintenance services.
Properly use and maintain tools and equipment.
Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues in forklifts.
Interpret diagnostic reports to determine necessary repairs.
Perform repairs on forklift engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other components.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and diagnostic procedures.
Document parts used, labor time, and services performed.
Qualifications, Experience & Attributes: A diploma or equivalent in Automotive mechanics Technical certification or degree in diesel technology, automotive technology, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar role, specifically with forklifts or material handling equipment.
Experience with various forklift makes and models.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
