Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in individual tax preparation and a proven ability to handle complex tax scenarios, including business, trust, estate, and nonprofit returns. You will play a key role in managing client engagements, guiding tax planning and research efforts, and mentoring entry-level staff and interns.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns with precision and efficiency.
• Conduct in-depth tax research and draft comprehensive memoranda and client correspondence.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations and providing expert advice.
• Supervise and mentor staff and seasonal interns, reviewing their work and offering constructive feedback.
• Manage federal, state, and local tax audits, addressing notices and resolving issues effectively.
• Oversee multiple client portfolios, ensuring budgets and production goals are met.
• Collaborate on tax planning strategies to optimize client outcomes and minimize liabilities.
• Utilize tax software such as CCH ProSystem fx and QuickBooks to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
• Monitor industry developments to stay informed of changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless workflow and client satisfaction.• Active CPA license is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in public accounting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide team members.
• Detail-oriented approach with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficiency in tax software such as Axcess Tax, Axcess Practice, ProSystem fx Engagement, and QuickBooks is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with multi-state, estate, and corporate tax compliance is highly desirable.
