Description
GXM Consulting is seeking a Lead Developer to support the sustainment, modernization, and enhancement of enterprise applications in a mission-critical environment. This role focuses on stabilizing and evolving existing software platforms while enabling their integration into broader enterprise workflows. The successful candidate will support end-to-end system operations, including incident resolution, security patching, and modular code enhancements to meet evolving functional requirements. This role requires strong collaboration with systems engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and Agile development teams to ensure legacy platforms continue to meet mission and operational needs. This position is Local, On-site/Hybrid, with Ad-Hoc Telework Possible.
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or High School Degree + 6 years of relevant experience.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development, with a focus on application sustainment and technical troubleshooting.
Experience working with legacy systems, including updating or refactoring older codebases for performance, security, or compliance.
Proficiency in scripting and back-end languages such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.
Familiarity with traditional relational databases and legacy data models.
Ability to respond to production incidents, analyze root causes, and implement resolutions.
Experience developing and deploying patches, security updates, and performance optimizations.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
Prior experience modernizing legacy applications or migrating to cloud-native environments.
Understanding of secure configuration management and continuous integration practices.
Familiarity with infrastructure dependencies, including system logs, services, and environment variables.
Experience supporting applications in compliance-bound environments (e.g., FISMA, RMF, STIGs).
Comfortable working in a hybrid Agile environment with iterative enhancements, defect fixes, and integration support.
