Job Summary
Clark Testing is seeking a Chemical Analyst/Lab Technician for our Jefferson Hills (PA) testing laboratory. In this position, the Analyst/Technician performs work in our Industrial Hygiene and Analytical Chemistry laboratories and is primarily responsible for Chromatography and XRD analysis in a production type laboratory. Sample matrices include various raw materials and industrial hygiene air samples.
Primary Duties
Daily responsibilities include:
Preparation and analysis of samples.
Data review/interpretation.
QA/QC data entry to include control charting.
Review backlog and scheduling of day.
Housekeeping; maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Review SOP’s and their associated methods,
Assisting co-workers in other areas of the laboratory as needed.
Performing other duties and tasks as required and requested by management.
Qualifications & Competency Requirements
Associate’s degree in a related field is required. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a related field is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years’ laboratory experience.
Knowledge of physical and material properties attained through academic courses and work experience.
Understanding of various mathematical-chemistry related calculations.
Make appropriate entries in log workbooks and enter data in our Lab Information Management System (LIMS) to ensure validity and traceability of information.
Good computer skills, including Excel and Word.
Additional experience in other areas; including but not limited to OE, XRD, ICP, IC, LC, GC, Wet Chemistry, is a plus.
Must possess a “Want-to” attitude and the ability to work on a team and independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to multitask while using skills in prioritizing, problem-solving and time-management.
Must be safety, quality, and detail-oriented with knowledge of safe laboratory practices and work habits; including maintaining a clean work area and wearing PPE where required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with co-workers and clients and writing diagnostic messages.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients.
Mechanical and electrical aptitude are a plus.
Good eye/hand coordination.
Must be able to lift, carry, move, or transport objects up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable with moving and connecting gas cylinders.
Available to work daylight shift and willing to work overtime and off-shift hours when necessary.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.
Must have reliable transportation and able to manage the daily commute to the laboratory.
This is a full-time, Non-Exempt hourly position.
