Position Summary:
As a Survey Project Manager at KS Associates, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing a diverse range of land surveying projects. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects, from the initial conceptualization and detailed planning through meticulous execution and the delivery of high-quality final deliverables. This position demands strong leadership capabilities, in-depth technical expertise in modern surveying practices, and exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Responsibilities:
Project Management Excellence:
Plan, organize, and manage multiple surveying projects concurrently, ensuring efficient resource allocation and workflow.
Develop comprehensive project budgets, meticulously track expenses, and proactively manage financial performance.
Establish realistic project schedules, diligently monitor progress, and ensure strict adherence to deadlines and project specifications.
Serve as the primary point of contact, fostering clear and consistent communication with clients, engineers, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Proactively identify and resolve project-related challenges and conflicts, ensuring smooth project progression.
Technical Leadership and Expertise:
Provide technical oversight and actively participate in all phases of field surveys, including data collection, processing, and rigorous analysis.
Proficiently utilize advanced surveying equipment, including GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, and 3D laser scanners (as KS Associates utilizes these technologies).
Master the application of industry-leading surveying software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads, and Trimble Business Center.
Execute and oversee a wide array of surveying tasks, including precise boundary surveys, detailed topographic surveys, accurate construction staking, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, right-of-way mapping, and as-built surveys.
Ensure strict compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as established industry best practices and KS Associates' internal standards.
Team Development and Mentorship:
Directly supervise, mentor, and guide field crews and survey technicians, fostering their professional growth and development.
Effectively assign tasks, clearly communicate expectations, and diligently monitor individual and team performance.
Provide ongoing technical guidance, support, and training to ensure the team operates at the highest level of competency.
Cultivate a positive, collaborative, and productive team environment that aligns with KS Associates' values of teamwork and respect.
Client Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients through proactive and responsive communication.
Provide regular and informative project updates, clearly address any client inquiries or concerns, and ensure client satisfaction.
Prepare compelling and accurate project proposals, present findings effectively in reports and presentations, and contribute to business development efforts.
Commitment to Quality and Safety:
Thoroughly review and approve all survey data, calculations, maps, plats, and other project deliverables to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
Implement and consistently maintain robust quality control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
Strictly adhere to and promote the KS Associates Health and Safety Plan, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Professional Land Surveyor (PS) license in the State of Ohio is a mandatory requirement.
Demonstrated progressive experience in managing a variety of land surveying projects, showcasing strong organizational and leadership skills.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads software is essential.
Proficient, experienced user of Trimble software and equipment, including GPS/GNSS receivers and robotic total stations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and also collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Current, valid Ohio driver's license and reliable transportation is required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Surveying and Mapping, Civil Engineering or a related field.
7 to 10 years of relevant, professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
