Job Title: Desktop Operator

Reports To: Customer Service Manager

Summary of Job

Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager, the Desktop Operator utilizes desktop publishing tools, equipment, and software packages to create and produce a variety of high-quality production proofs and formats that incorporate text and graphic images.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Ability to communicate with internal and external customers. Laser focused on workflows, design principles, print and converting processes.

Work with all stakeholders including the Sales team, Administrative staff, Production staff and Suppliers. Align with Clients on project details, technical specifications, timelines and meeting deadlines.

Prepare and processes requests for new artwork proofs, adjust/revise current artwork proofs and sample requests as assigned.

Prepares and manages artwork change requests as needed.

Prepares customer art files for proofing and press readiness.

Maintains the Prepress/Creative Services shared folder for new and existing artwork files.

Maintains the format library when creating new formats

Monitor Jobs in the system for accuracy.

Work with New Product Development and Manufacturing on creating new die lines/artwork proofs for new formats as they are developed internally to present to customers for approval

Work with large format plotter to create physical proofs for customer approval and for production.

Ability to complete tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines and high-quality standards.

Other duties as assigned

Competency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Ability to create layouts, templates, and make minor copy alterations of single to 4 color process work.

Proficient with computers and MAC. Experienced in the Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.

Pre-press or Creative Services / Structural Design background a plus.

Ability to think quickly and solve problems.

Attention to detail is a must.

Communicates in a professional manner.

Outgoing Self-starter who can work independently.

Environment

Exposure to moving equipment.

Office environment

Noise may exceed 85dB+

Personal Protective Equipment required.

Physical Characteristics

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Hours-Normal business hours

Occasional overtime

Education and Experience

3-5 years' experience in the Printing or Converting industry supporting front end services

2-3 years of Desktop Graphic Design with experience in Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop or other front end Desktop tools.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis' total compensation package. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $60-$73K for this salaried non-exempt role and this role will be eligible for overtime.
