Pre-Employment Drug Testing:

All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana.

Pre-Employment Background Investigation:

The final applicant selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is prohibited from hiring:

Individuals under a federal or state weapons disability if the position requires firearms certification/recertification and use;

Individuals who have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other confinement facility; have been civilly or administratively adjudicated, or convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, implied threats of force, or if the victim did not or was unable to consent;

Individuals convicted of soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism, terrorism, or money laundering to support terrorism;

Individuals who have been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony where a direct correlation exists between the position and prior criminal behavior.

The Information Technologist 1 responsibilities include\:

Provides support to ODRC Information System users and/or IT specialists in adherence to established ODRC policies and procedures

Provides support and services within ODRC to support ODRC customers, internal and external Creates, and analyzes incident and problem tickets to ensure proper completion and assignment of incidents or service requests

Follows established policy and procedures for prioritization categorization

Follows escalation procedures established by ODRC

Initiates first level resolution within confines of access and security authority, utilizing published processes and procedures

Follows up ensuring first level resolution within time limits prescribed by service level agreements (SLAs)

Acts as liaison for services within ODRC

Assists with on-boarding processes for new employees

Collaborate with other program areas by interfacing and utilizing other IT applications or platforms

Participates in and/or provides technical IT assistance related to projects, tasks and assignments

Facilitates group assignments between the ODRC helpdesk and IT Service Owners, as needed Assists with managing ODRC Knowledgebase

Generates enhancements for existing infrastructure, software or database systems in compliance with specifications and standards

Assists in development procedures, task plans, training and job aids and attends meetings to gather and coordinate activities for requirements gathering

Works toward improved customer services through process and performance management

Assists with ODRC initiatives as needed

Assists with managing risks and changes related to ODRC processes, projects and procedures

6 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following\: computers &/or electronics and/or in telecommunications performing routine analysis, programming, installation, maintenance and/or systems support, solving problems with pre-determined methods on basic hardware or software including experience providing customer support.

-Or 2 courses in computer science or information systems.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
