We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer with expertise in Oracle databases and Databricks to join our growing data team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and data integration solutions across a hybrid data ecosystem.
This role requires strong experience in both traditional relational database systems and modern cloud-based data platforms.
Key Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Databricks and Oracle technologies.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes to ensure efficient data movement and transformation.
Integrate and ingest data from various source systems into data lake/data warehouse environments.
Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality datasets.
Implement data quality checks and ensure integrity, consistency, and availability of data.
Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues in both on-premise and cloud data platforms.
Contribute to the development and enforcement of data engineering standards and best practices.
Assist in the migration of legacy systems to modern cloud-based architectures.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
Hands-on experience with Oracle (PL/SQL, performance tuning, data modeling). Strong working knowledge of Databricks (including PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks, and job orchestration). Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Scala . Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory). Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), preferably Azure . The Reference Number for this position is NG60439 which is a Permanent, Hybrid in Midrand, Johannesburg offering a salary of R650k to R850k per annum CTC salary negotiable based on experience.
