Job Summary:

The Tank Tester is responsible for conducting pressure and leak tests on industrial fuel storage tanks used for backup power diesel Caterpillar engines. This role ensures that all tanks meet industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality requirements before delivery or installation. The ideal candidate has experience in industrial testing procedures, understands welding integrity, and follows strict safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform hydrostatic, pneumatic, and other required tests on welded industrial tanks to ensure structural integrity and leak prevention.

Inspect welds, fittings, and components for defects or failures using appropriate testing equipment.

Follow testing procedures and safety regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, NFPA, or company-specific requirements).

Record and document test results, failures, and corrective actions in detailed reports.

Work closely with welders, engineers, and quality control teams to address any issues found during testing.

Ensure tanks are properly sealed and pressurized according to specifications.

Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing leaks or other failures, recommending corrective actions.

Maintain testing equipment and ensure all tools are in proper working condition.

Adhere to company safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of PPE.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent is desired OR any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties (required)

Experience in industrial testing, welding inspection, or a related field preferred.

Familiarity with hydrostatic and pneumatic testing methods.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements for industrial fuel tanks.

Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or failures.

Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for long periods.

Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized environment, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment requiring the employee to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch throughout an 8-to-10-hour day.

Strength to carry product, equipment, and tools up to 50 pounds and push or pull product up to 100 pounds.

Ability to work in both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications in non-destructive testing (NDT), welding inspection, or related areas.

Experience with ASME or API standards for tank manufacturing.

Previous experience in a welding or industrial manufacturing environment.
